Tattoo Removals
This is probably one of my most important posts out of them all.When you are deciding to get a tattoo you must think every carefully about what you want and where you want it. After all, it is for life isn't it? Not quite.
If you (like my good self) happen to make the mistake of getting a horrible tattoo which just makes your life hell, whether that be an embarrassing tattoo, vulgar or in a place it should not be then you may have considered a cover up. The trouble with cover ups are they can only work on so many tattoos before laser treatment is an option.
My first tattoo was a tribal band on my arm covering right round under my bicep and it was about 4-5 centimetres in diameter, therefore it was a fairly big tattoo that was noticeable with a shorter t shirt on or if I stretched upwards. My friends in my old job described it as a "Peter Andre Tattoo". Now I don't know about you but I certainly didnt like being compared to the man who married Katie Price and released the song 'Mysterious Girl'.
So after about 3 years of having this eye sore on my arm I finally started to get my sleeve on my right arm, the problem was that it was too thick to cover up, it was immedately show through espeically for the design I wanted, the only thing that would cover it right up would be black scales or all black shading, but I wanted roses round that part of my arm to go with my day of the dead girl going up my shoulder. So what did I do?
I began tattoo laser removal. I will admit the first time I went to get it done I was absolutely shit scared. They come out and give you big 3D look a like glasses incase the laser somehow caught your eye and take you into a small white room with this machine sitting there which could only be described as R2 D2'S big brother.
The only plus side of this treatment was that it only took about 20-30 minutes rather than hours up on hours to actually get a tattoo done, once the treatment begins it looks like the laser shoots little white dots on your skin when actually its already beginning to blister. It feels like a hot ping on your sunburn as the laser breaks up the ink pigments in your skin. Might I add a good luck to anyone getting a colour tattoo removed as blue, green and red are the hardest to remove.
After the treatment the same rules applied as to getting a tattoo, 6-8 weeks to heal and use cream to keep it moisturised. The first 2/3 sessions were the worst because alot of ink pigments remained. My arm blistered up and when I had a shirt on the blisters would create a ring of blood round my arm and I had to be careful in the shower not to scrape along them. As the tattoo faded and the treatment became easier I can only say that laser removal is something that I do not regret but something that I would never go through again, which is why I can only stress that everyone takes their time when getting a tattoo.
