The Sheffield Tattoo convention is one of the biggest tattoo conventions in the UK and over 100 artists from across Europe come to compete. The convention will always strive to have a creative theme and the 2016 theme is Marvel v DC which I am sure is going to be a cracker this year!

On the day many artists from across Europe will arrive and will compete too see who has the best tattoos. There are many different competition and the one that caught my eye is the portrait competition. Personally from having 2 full size portraits tattooed on myself I find them to be very fascinating, especially with the detail that is put into them.

The Winner of the best portrait for the 2015 convention was Chris Meighan of Santa Kruz Kustom club based in Stirling. His piece was a very detailed Daniel Craig (James Bond) piece. The portrait was in full colour and the mixture of colours to create different shades really does make the piece stand on its own amongst others.

The main event of the convention was the Star Wars theme to collide with the release of Stars Wars VII : The Force Awakens. The winner of the best Star Wars piece was Stoke based artist Simon Cooke, he completed a full portrait of Padme Amidala.

The two pieces look absolutely stunning and I am sure we will see these two artists back down there this year for the 2016 convention. The 2016 convention is the 5th-6th November and tickets are available on the Sheffield Tattoo Show webpage, I must say I am very tempted to grab myself a few and witness this incredible art for myself !

These two artists highlight was tattooing is really about, they highlight the dedication and hardwork that it takes to become a highly skilled tattoo artists. They also show the beauty behind their inkwork and how they have impacted people's lives by gracing their body with this fantastic art work.
